BELOIT - Beloit Police Chief Andre Sayles was recently included in the Northwest Quarterly's 25 Most Interesting People List.

Sayles was named Beloit's first Black police chief in April of 2021. In the article in the Northwest Quarterly, Sayles said he feels it is important to have a diverse police department. He noted when he first started at the Beloit Police Department here were only four Black police officers.

The Northwest Quarterly covers stories of people in southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, the northwest suburban Chicago area and Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Other area individuals included in the most recent list included Greg Brown, CFO of Belvidere School District and Katie Townsend, garden manager at Midway Village Museum in Rockford.
